His position endangered by the fall of Cromwell in 1540 ; sent to the Tower [ London ], but soon released and granted various estates. M.P. for Liverpool [ Lancashire ], 1545 . Licensed to preach, though a layman, 1552 . High Sheriff of Oxfordshire , 1569, also J.P. Of Norbiton Hall, Surrey ; afterwards removed to Woodeaton, Oxfordshire .
