High Sheriff of Anglesey , 1802-3; of Carnarvonshire, 1803-4, when he resided at Cefn Coch and Wern Fawr.

Brought forward a motion in the House against Frederick, Duke of York, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, relating to scandals arising out of his connection with Mary Anne Clarke, and procured the retirement of the Prince.

Made a long speech in Parliament, 1809, on public economy, which earned him great popularity.
