Lawson in their journey of exploration across the Blue Mountains of Australia . Member, for Sydney, in the first New South Wales Chief founder of Colonial self-government. Leader of the pastoral, or 'Squatter,' party. Carried the Bill for founding Sydney University, 1849. Suggested federal parliament for all Australia , 1857. Co-Proprietor and Joint Editor of The Australian . Returned to England, 1862. Married, Oct. 26, 1829, Sarah, dau. of Francis Cox, of Sydney, and had issue.
