Removed to Newcastle-upon-Tyne [ Northumberland ], where he preached for a year during a severe attack of the plague.
Brought before the Court of High Commission, 13 Jan., 1589/90, and accused of being concerned in writing the Marprelate tracts and other works; found guilty on the second charge, and sentenced to death. The sentence was not carried out and he was kept in the Marshalsea [ London ], till 1592 .
