His presentation was delayed as Mrs Calvert (sister and heiress of Mr Tooke) entered a claim of presentation; a verdict was given in favour of the College, but Mrs Calvert made an appeal and, to avoid further delay, Tyson agreed to pay her law expenses (£63), and to allow her the use of the house and the emoluments of the living up to 1778. A wellknown antiquary and an excellent artist and engraver. Friend of Gough. Married, 1778, Margaret, dau. of Hitch Wale, Esq., of Shelford, Cambridgeshire . Portrait drawing of her, by John Downman, in the Fitzwilliam Museum, being described as 'Miss Peggy Wale of Cambridge, 1778, a beauty who a Mr Tyson of Bene't College married.' Died May 4, 1780.
