Michs., 1826; Scholar, 1826. Migrated to Trinity, May 11, 1827; Browne medal (Greck Ode), 1828. Rusticated for three terms, Dec. 1828, for refusal to perform the impositions set him for non-attendance at Chapel. Re-adm. Feb. 3, 1830; B.A. 1832. In 1833 inherited a property near Grimsby. Travelled extensively in the Ionian Islands, Sicily Lived for 20 years in Florence, where he was intimate with the Brownings, then at Tenby, and latterly, from 1857, in Jersey . Married, 1839, Maria, dau. of Signor Giuliotti, Chief magistrate of Tuscany, and had issue. Became an 'Anglo-Israelite' and subsequently joined the Church of the New Jerusalem. Author, Poems, including four poems in Poems by Two Brothers; Days and Hours; The Isles of Greece ; Daphne; Poems of the Day and Year, etc. Died, Feb. 26, 1898, at his home in Kensington.
