Jan. 18, 1787, in St Christopher's, West Indies .] Scholar, 1803. Resided for eight terms. Adm. at Lincoln's Inn, Oct. 3, 1803. Called to the Bar, Nov. 24, 1815. Made his name by a Treatise on Pleading, published 1824. Serjeant-at-law, 1828. Published a Summary of the Criminal Law, which was translated into German, and New Commentaries on the Laws of England ; this enjoyed a high reputation and became the standard work of its kind. Commissioner in Bankruptcy at Bristol, 1842-60. Resided at Cleevewood, near Bristol. Lived latterly at Clifton. Married, 1814, his cousin, Mary Morison, and had issue.
