[But one James 'Roper' was admitted at the English College at Rome [ Italy ], 06 May, 1608, age about 30. He stated that he was the son of an English minister of Suffolk ;
born at Winton ( sic ), near Ipswich [ Suffolk ], and
M.A. of Pembroke College, Cambridge (no such graduate).
He became a Roman Catholic, in 1602 ; ord. priest (Rome) 18 Apr., 1609, and leaving for England ,
died at Loreto [ Italy ].]
