Moved to London, 1868, and entered the Royal Academy of Music; bronze medal, 1870; silver medal, 1871.
Kept a music school at Danville, U.S.A., 1871-3. Professor of Music at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, 1873-9. Had a private school of music at Aberystwyth and at Swansea, 1881-8. Lecturer, and subsequently Professor of Music, at University College, Cardiff, 1888-1903.

Married, at Danville, Jane, dau. of Gomer Thomas, and had issue.
