Okeover, Rowland [Farmer]. Adm. Fell.-Com. (age 18) at PETERHOUSE, Oct. 7, 1763. [Eldest] s. of Rowland (1714), of Oldbury, Warws. (by his 2nd wife, Alice, dau. of John Gregory, merchant, of London). [B. Nov. 30, 1745.] School, Charterhouse. Of Oldbury Hall, Warws. 'The Okeovers are an ancient knightly family which has been settled at Okeover, Staffs. for more than seven centuries. The family was one of notable benevolence, a quality in which Rowland Farmer [p.585] was not wanting.' Married (1) Bridget, dau. of James Haughton Langston, banker, of London, and had issue; (2) Judith, dau. of William Robinson, of Hill Redware, Staffs., and widow of John Holden, of Sheepy, Leics., and had further issue. Died Jan. 3, 1793, aged 47, at Oldbury Hall, Warws.; buried at Mancetter, Warws., in the family vault. His 2nd son had died in 1792, from fever, at Eton, and the shock probably hastened his death.
