A keen naturalist, it was mainly through his efforts that the skeleton of Rodriquez' 'Solitaire' was recovered from the Mascarene Islands. Gave his natural history collections to the University museum. Died Apr. 25, 1897, at Lowestoft. Brother of Alfred (1848) and Robert M. (1839).
