Called to the Bar, Jan. 26, 1886; practised for a few years at the Cape and in England. Member of the firm of Donald Currie and Co. Instrumental in organizing the transport of fruit from S. Africa to England. Chairman of many companies in S. Africa and Kenya. Married Elizabeth, dau. of Sir Donald Currie, G.C.M.G. M.P. for Dumfries-shire, 1906-18. Author, The Life and Times of Sir J. C. Molteno; A Federal S. Africa; A Plea for Small Holdings, etc. One of the Founders of the Royal Institute of International Affairs. Inaugurated the Vienna Emergency Relief Fund for starving women and children of Vienna. In 1919 he and his wife gave a large sum of money to the University for the erection and endowment of the Molteno Institute for research in Parasitology. Died Sept. 19, 1937, at Zürich.
