'He was known at book-sales as "Measure Miller" for his habit of carrying about with him a foot-rule in order to measure the exact size of a "tall" copy of a book which he wished to buy.' As a book-collector, regarded as the successor of Richard Heber; his Britwell Library was unrivalled for the number and rarity of its examples of Early English and British literature. Died, unmarried, Oct. 31, 1848. Bequeathed Britwell Court, near Burnham, Bucks., to his cousins, the Misses Marsh, who resided with him, from whom it passed to Samuel Christie-Miller and has since been sold, and the library dispersed.
