University Demonstrator in Mechanism, 1891-1903; University Lecturer in electrical Engineering, 1903-21; Reader in electrical Engineering, 1921-31. In charge of the Department of Engineering during the War of 1914-19. Well known as an entomologist, being an authority on certain branches of the Diptera. A keen musician and Freemason, and greatly interested in psychical research. One of the first in this country to take part in experiments on alternating currents. Died May 4, 1941, at Cambridge, aged 74.
