Succeeded his father as second Baron Ravensworth (of a second creation), Mar. 8, 1855. Vice-Lieut. for County Durham, 1862. Created Earl of Ravensworth and Baron Eslington, 1874. Married, Nov. 8, 1820, Isabella Horatia, eldest dau. of Lord George Seymour, and had issue. Published translations into English lyric verse of the Odes of Horace, and works of Virgil, etc. Contributed antiquarian papers to Archaeologia Aeliana and to the Transactions of the Natural Hist.
