A scholar rather than an administrator, he was greatly loved by all his Assistants at the Library, "acquiring and cataloguing books in an old-fashioned but perfectly satisfactory manner, as yet untroubled by problems of collection and storage." Of Southmead, Chaucer Road, Cambridge [ Cambridgeshire ]. Died Sept. 21, 1923, at Hampstead [ London ].
