figure in Buckinghamshire; largely responsible for the restoration of
Medmenham Abbey. J.P., 1899. High Sheriff, 1903. In his later years lived at
the Villa Paloma, Monaco, and was very well known on the Riviera. With a gift
of £10,000, founded scholarships for the children of Monaco. Died June 14,
1938, at Aix-les-Bains. (Burke, L.G., 1939; The Times, June 16,
