Had theories on transfusion of the blood, which he illustrated at his lectures
by experiments on animals. Vice-Master of Downing, 1814. Gunning describes him
as popular, bonvivant and witty, but very licentious in conversation, and
eccentric and quarrelsome. Married, July, 1798, –, dau. of Sir John Pechell.
Published the 1st vol. of a System of Comparative Anatomy and
Physiology
, in 1796. Died s.p. Nov. 10, 1814, in Downing.
