Herdman, John. Adm. Fell.-Com. at MAGDALENE, Oct. 24, 1809. [B. c. 1762, in Scotland.] Studied medicine in Edinburgh; Fellow of the College of surgeons of Edinburgh, 1797. M.D. 1800 (Aberdeen); L.R.C.P., 1806. Practised at Leith. Moved to London and was physician to the City Dispensary and to the Duke of Sussex. Matric. Michs. 1809. Migrated to Trinity Hall, Apr. 22, 1811; B.A. 1814; M.A. 1817. Ord. deacon (Bristol) May 25, 1816. Preached at Alnwick and in other towns in Northumberland. Married a dau. of C. Hay, Esq., of Lesbury; marriage brought him much wealth, which he spent largely on charity. Author, medical. Died Feb. 26, 1842, aged 80, at Lesbury House, near Alnwick. (G.
