of Croyland Abbey, Lincs. School, private. Succeeded to the family estates in
Lincolnshire. Of Croyland Abbey. A conspicuous figure in the fashionable and
sporting circles of the Regency; extravagant living forced him to sell the
estates of Wilsford and Pedwardine, and, finally, that of Croyland (for
332,000 guineas) in 1829. Married, Sept. 26, 1796, Frances, dau. of J.
Modyford Heywood, of Maristowe House, Devon. Died Dec. 13, 1848, aged 72, at
