discovering a cure for stammering, and therefore left without taking a degree.
In 1827, settled in Regent Street, London, where he received many patients,
and had much success. Attacked in the Lancet of May 16, 1846, as an
unlicensed practitioner. In 1849 his numerous patients subscribed for his bust
in marble, in commemoration of his 22 years' service; it was modelled by
Joseph Durham and exhibited at the Royal Academy. Died Aug. 18, 1851, at
Godlingstone, near Swanage, Dorset. (D.N.B., Thomas only.)
