Strabane (of Ireland) and Viscount Hamilton in Great Britain. Created Marquess
of Abercorn, Oct. 15, 1790. Governor of Counties Donegal and Tyrone, 1790.

and who was stated to have required his housemaids to wear white kid gloves
when making his bed. On the elopement of his second wife he is said to have
begged her at least to go in state in the family chariot. He had, however,
considerable gifts as a speaker and Pitt had the highest opinion of his
