Fellow, 1821-67; President, 1835-67. Ord. deacon (Bristol) Apr. 13, 1823. An ingenious mathematician. Remarkable for his extreme shyness; absented himself for many years from hall and chapel, on account of some ancient slight, and few members of the College knew him even by sight; a Fellow once showed him round the College, mistaking him for a stranger. After taking his degree he was presented with the freedom of the Town of King's Lynn, as a mark of his fellow citizens' esteem. Author, mathematical. Died Dec. 12, 1867, in College. Buried at N.
