Hall, Apr. 3, 1799 (as William). Succeeded his father in the Backworth House
estate. A dispute arose
between his family and the Duke of Northumberland, as to the right to work the
coal lying beneath
the estate: the case had gone to the assizes in his father's time, 1809, and the
Duke had been
non-suited. The dispute was finally ended by the Duke buying the estate. Lived
for a time at Acton
House, near Felton, and subsequently at Doncaster. Married Anne, dau. of the
Rev. Sir Samuel
Jervoise-Clarke, of Idsworth Park, Hants. Died in 1822, aged 42, at Doncaster.
