Succeeded his father as 3rd Baron Grantham and to the estate of Topcliffe, Yorks., July 20, 1786, and his cousin, Sir Norton Robinson, in the Baronetcy of Robinson of Newby, Jan. 31, 1792. Took the name of Weddell in lieu of his patronymic Robinson by Royal licence, May 7, 1803. Succeeded his maternal uncle as Earl de Grey of Wrest, May 4, 1833, and assumed by Royal licence the name of De Grey in lieu of Weddell. Lord-Lieut. of Beds., 1818-59. Col. of Yorks.
