Seriously injured in a railway accident at Tottenham, on a journey from Cambridge to London, and suffered afterwards from a permanent limp, in spite of which he was a member of the Alpine Club, 1871-1904.

Died Oct. 15, 1905, at Birchington-on-Sea. Buried there.
