Eton College Betham Scholar, 1803-16. Remarkable for his dexterity at all athletic games. Intimate friend of Tom Moore and Lord Byron who, when on his death-bed, sent him a ring. Byron's Parisina is dedicated to him. One of the most distinguished wits in London at the time of the Regency. Lived at Ostend, 1836 and latterly in Paris. Died there May 23 (Boase says 24), 1852.
