Busby, Thomas. Adm. sizar at MAGDALENE, July 5, 1800. [B. Dec. 1755, in Westminster; the son of a coach-painter.] Mus.D. 1801. Musical composer. For some time Parliamentary reporter of the London Courant. Assisted in editing the Morning Post and acted as musical critic to the European Magazine, etc. Organist at St Mary's, Newington, 1785; at St Mary Woolnoth, 1798. Joint editor of a Musical Dictionary, 1786. A teacher of Latin, French and music. His Oratorio, The Prophecy, produced by Cramer, 1799; a secular oratorio Brittania, performed at Covent Garden, 1801, with Mara as principal soprano.
