B. 1565. Entered the service of William Davison, secretary
to Queen Elizabeth, 1584. Went with him to the Low
Countries. Joined the separatists, and retired to Amsterdam,
1608; and to Leyden, 1609. Sailed in the Mayflower, 1620.
Founded New Plymouth, where he worked as teacher and
