Bucer or Butzer, Martin.
D.D. 1550. B. at Schlettstadt,
Alsace, 1491. B.D. of Heidelberg. A Dominican at Strassburg.
Afterwards Chaplain to the Elector, and for 20 years
minister and professor at Strassburg. Invited to England,
with Fagius, 1549. Appointed Regius Professor of Divinity
at Cambridge, 1550, but died Feb. 28, 1550-1. Buried in
Gt St Mary's. His body, with that of Fagius, was taken up
and burnt in the market place, Feb. 6, 1556-7. In 1560 their
