of the 2nd Duke of Devonshire. School, Hackney. Resided
till Feb. 1753. Distinguished as chemist, physicist and
mathematician. Resided mostly in London and latterly at
Clapham. F.R.S. 1760. F.S.A. Died Mar. 10, 1810. Buried
at All Saints', Derby. He had a large income, and lived so
closely that he left a fortune of over a million. Brother
