Botanist and miscellaneous writer. His preface to Miscellaneous Tracts introduced Linnean principles into England.
Musician; wrote librettos for oratorios.
Died at his lodgings in Piccadilly, London , 15 Dec., 1771; buried in St James', Piccadilly [ London ]. M.I.
