The immediate cause of this move was stated to be that he feared certain expressions he had allowed himself in a sermon at Great St Mary's would prejudice his chances of qualifying for the D.D. Married, 1779, Elizabeth, dau. of John Foley of Ridgeway, Pembrokeshire , and had issue.
