Became chaplain to Sir Richard Darley, Knt., of Buttercrambe, North Riding of Yorkshire ; preached surreptitiously in that region till forced by persecution to flee to Heddon [ Northumberland ], near Newcastle-on-Tyne [ Northumberland ]. Emigrated to New England [cu] USA [/cu]. Arrived in Boston [ Massachusetts ] [ USA ], 03 Oct., 1635, and proceeded to Newtown, Massachusetts [cu] USA [/cu] (afterwards changed to Cambridge [ Massachusetts ] [ USA ] in honour of Sheppard).
