Connected with the Bermudas Company in 1616 ; bought shares in the Virginia Company in 1619, of which he became a prominent member. Joined with the Earl of Warwick and others in providing funds for the first voyage of discovery to Providence Island [ Rhode Island , USA ???], 1629, and in forming a company of adventurers for the plantation of Providence and Henrietta [ Rhode Island , USA ???], 1630 .
