Led a wild life while an undergraduate, and was on this account refused by the lady of his choice, Miss Sophia Louisa Rowe; taking her refusal to heart, he disappeared about 1821 and for some fifteen years his family were in ignorance of his fate, until his sister-in-law, while on a Continental tour, accidentally found him imprisoned for debt in a French town; she paid his debts, brought him to England and reconciled him to Miss Rowe, whom he married, Jan. 6, 1842.
