Adm. at Lincoln's Inn, Sept. 26, 1791. Called to the Bar, July 3, 1797. Went to Madras, 1804. King's Advocate in the Admiralty Court at Madras, and Advocate-General there. Returned to England in 1809. M.P. for East Retford, 1812-18. Contributor to The Cabinet. Author of pamphlets and articles on Indian affairs, and the reputed author of two lively volumes of gossip entitled The Clubs of London.
