'At the time of her marriage she was considered to be the handsomest woman and one of the greatest heiresses of the kingdom.' Author of political tracts; his treatise, On Public Opinion in Great Britain and other parts of the World, 1828, passed through two editions, and was subsequently re-written in two vols., under the title of A History of Civilization. Died Apr. 30, 1870, at Belvedere, Broadstairs (one of his many seats); buried at Acrise.
