If this identification is correct, had joined the H.E.I.C.S. in 1773; Collector, Judge and Magistrate at Dacca, 1790. Married 1785, Jane, dau. of Major John Bell, of Newport, Rhode Island, and widow of Andrew Heatley, of Rhode Island. Died Mar. 28, 1802, on his way home from India. Father of Philip H. (1805).
