Maltravers Herald Extraordinary, 1887. One of the pioneers of the Civil Service Co-operative Stores, which developed into the Civil Service Supply Association, Ltd., of which he was Chairman. Married, 1862, Ellen Clara, dau. of Joshua and Ann West. One of the founders of the Harleian Society; edited its first volume. Also edited a number of other genealogical works, particularly with F. A. Crisp, The Visitation of England and Wales, which was begun in 1893, and a similar publication relating to Irish families, begun in 1897. Originated Miscellanea Genealogica et Heraldica, first published in July, 1866, which he edited until 1902. Died Apr. 18, 1902, at Hampton Hill. Buried at Twickenham. (Venn, II. 468 (sub his s.
