Member of Cambridge Town Council, 1835-41. A Whig of advanced views. As Senior Bedell received the customary gold chain from three Chancellors at their installations. Married, Aug. 4, 1794, a Miss Bertram, at Lakenham, and had issue, several sons, of whom only one survived him. Author, Reminiscences, 1780-1830, published posthumously, 1854: he did not begin these entertaining sketches until he was over eighty years of age, but 'his facts are usually accurate and the anecdotes of his contemporaries are highly amusing'; The Poll Books of Cambridge, 1822-47; a new edition of Adam Wall's Ceremonies observed in the Senate House of the University of Cambridge, 1828.
