A munificent benefactor to charity, particularly to hospitals; gave £36,000 towards the cost of the Foundling site. A keen golfer; presented, on very generous terms, Prince's Course at Mitcham to the public. Chairman of the Mitcham Commons Conservators for 25 years. Of Mitcham Court, Surrey.
