Became a Roman Catholic in 1825 (Boase gives 1823). Married, 1833, Jane Mary, dau. of Thomas Dillon, of Mount Dillon, Co. Kildare, and had issue.
Author, The Broadstone of Honour, or Rules for the Gentlemen of England, 1822 (anon.), which he re-wrote and published in four volumes 1826-7, omitting the second title; Mores Catholici or Ages of Faith, II vols. 1831-40; Cincinati, 1840; Compitum, or the Meeting of the Ways at the Catholic Church, 7 vols., 1848-54, 6 vols. 1851-5; The Lover's Seat; Kathemerina, or Common Things in relation to Beauty, Virtue and Faith, 1856; The Children's Bower, 1858; Evenings on the Thames, 1860; The Chapel of St John, 1861; Short Poems, 1865.
Died Mar. 22, 1880, at Kensington.
