Architect to the Ecclesiastical Commission; to the Deans and Chapters of Canterbury and Durham; to Southwell, Brecon and St David's Cathedrals, and to the Charity Commission. Consulting Architect to the Diocesan Boards of Finance of Canterbury, Lichfield, Newcastle-on-Tyne, [p.517] and Bath and Wells; also to the Canterbury Diocesan Board of Education. His works include offices of the Ecclesiastical Commission in Westminster; New Buildings at Pembroke College, and the National Physical Laboratories, Teddington; University College, Cardiff; Wycombe Abbey and North Foreland Schools; Latte Schools, Italy. Also responsible for the restoration of the Archbishop's Palace, Canterbury, Tom Tower and Cathedral, Oxford, and King's Hostel, Trinity College, Cambridge. Built a house at Kyrenia, Cyprus, where he spent the winter months using his influence for the preservation of antiquities in the island. Sometime President of the Architectural Society. Awarded the Norwegian Order of St Olaf. Lived at Vann, Hambledon, Surrey, and gave his architectural services gratuitously to villages in the neighbourhood. Founded the Fold Country Rural Preservations Society. Married and had issue. Author, Sefton; King's Hostel, Cambridge; Wren and Tom Tower. Died Feb. 25, 1938, aged 80, in Cyprus.
