Reg.) 1765. Of Gumley, Leics. High Sheriff, 1766 and 1781. A patron of the London stage; gave private theatricals at Gumley. A friend of Dr Farmer and David Garrick. Intimate in later life with John Nichols, the antiquary. Collected a fine library and interested in landscape gardening. Author, Literary and Miscellaneous Memoirs; The Czar, a tragedy, etc. Gave £50 towards rebuilding the College after the fire in 1811. Died Dec. 15, 1826, in the Strand.
