John Venn and associated himself with 'The Clapham Sect.' An ardent evangelical; friend of Edward Bickersteth and of Henry Thornton, M.P. An active worker with Wilberforce in the anti-slavery struggle. Author, On Affiction and Spiritual Distress. Died Apr. 20, 1864, at Islington.
