more likely, his cousin, s. of Timothy, of Ingatestone, Essex.
B. c. 1719. Adm. at the Inner Temple, 1735. Studied at
Glasgow, 1738-41. F.R.S. 1756. F.S.A. 1757. LL.D. Harvard
College. Took the name Hollis in 1774, on inheriting a
fortune. Died Sept. 9, 1804. Buried at Ingatestone. (Cussans'
Herts., II. 137.)
