Edited many editions of Greek and Latin authors.
Compiled with Professor Dunbar, of Edinburgh, a Greek and English lexicon.
Undertook the reprinting of Henry Stephens' Thesaurus Graecae Linguae; finished this enormous work of twelve folio volumes in 1826; severely reviewed by C. J. Blomfield (afterwards Bishop of London). For an account [p.151] of the subsequent controversy see G. Mag., XI. 543-7. Author, Parriana; or Notices of the Rev. Samuel Parr, LL.D.; Literary Anecdotes and Contemporary Reminiscences of Professor Porson. Died Mar. 21, 1839, in poverty, in a lodging-house in Covent Garden.
