Fellow, 1853-86. Dean, 1857-8 and 1863-5. Assistant Master at St Columba's College, near Dublin, 1854-6. Assistant at the University Library, 1856-8; Superintendent of MSS., 1859-67; effected a complete reform in that department and established his reputation as a bibliographer. University Librarian, 1867-86. F.S.A., 1860. Travelled on the Continent, thereby gaining a first hand acquaintance with the great libraries of Europe; acquired a knowledge of many languages, European and Oriental. President of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society. An indefatigable researcher, especially in Celtic languages and liturgiology. The 'Henry Bradshaw Society' was founded in his memory, 1890.
