C. of St John's, Drury Lane, 1855-8. V. of St Michael's, Cambridge, 1858-68; worked zealously for church extension in Barnwell and Chesterton. Mainly instrumental in founding the Cambridge School of Art, 1858, and the 'Church Defence Association,' 1859. Originator of the Church Congress, 1861.
